The Vibe

Easy Welcome. No Pretension.

Step inside and you'll feel it right away. The restored barn is warm and unhurried, with a fireplace that becomes the heart of the space through the cooler months. In summer the doors open wide to the lawn, Muskoka chairs face the vineyard, and the only pressure is deciding which wine to pour next.

The people serving you know these wines because they helped make them. The wines are serious. The atmosphere is not. Whether you're a seasoned Burgundy drinker or just starting to explore what Ontario cool-climate can do, you'll find your footing quickly here.

South-facing slopes. Vineyard views stretching toward the horizon. The kind of setting that reminds you why wine and place are so deeply connected. It's worth the drive, and most people say so on the way out.

When the season is right, the patio opens up and the experience shifts into something else entirely. A wood-fired grill and bread oven anchor a menu built around Niagara's exceptional local ingredients. It's the kind of food that belongs next to a glass of estate Chardonnay.

The setting is the patio's best feature: overlooking the vineyards, with the kind of light that makes everything look better in the late afternoon. It's a good place for a lazy afternoon. It's a great place for dinner as the sun sets over the vines.

In winter, the barn takes over. The fireplace is lit, the wines are open, and the pace drops to exactly what a cold Sunday afternoon calls for.

The Wines

Small-Batch. Estate-Grown. Worth the Trip.

Every wine you taste at Westcott was grown on one of two estate sites on the Niagara Escarpment. The Home Farm on the Vinemount Ridge produces the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir the winery was built on. Butlers' Grant on the Twenty Mile Bench, where mature vines planted in the 1980s grow in deep Silurian limestone soils, adds Riesling and Cabernet Franc to the portfolio.

Winemaker Casey Kulczyk works with minimal intervention throughout. No shortcuts, no formulas. The mineral-rich soils of the Escarpment give the wines a character that shows up clearly in the glass, and Casey's job is largely to stay out of the way and let that happen.

Everything is hand-harvested. Fermentations are small. The production is intentionally limited, because fewer, better bottles is the whole point.

The Family Behind It

A Leap of Faith That Became a Winery

2008
The Beginning

Grant Westcott and Carolyn Hurst left executive careers in Toronto, sold their home, and moved the family to Niagara. They planted their first vines on the Vinemount Ridge and made their inaugural vintage in the back of an equipment barn. No outside investors. No safety net.

2014
The Winery Opens

The tasting room opened in a restored 200-year-old timber frame barn sourced a few kilometres away. What started as a passion project had become one of Niagara's most talked-about estate wineries. The wines were already earning attention in London.

Today
A Family Operation

Grant and Carolyn's son Garett manages both vineyard sites. Winemaker Casey Kulczyk runs the cellar. Jessica Ramage leads sales. The heart of the operation remains unchanged: a genuine love for this land and the wines it can produce.
